the Pearl Jam Italian Tribute 2007 will host

FROM THE NORTH for its first appearance in Europe.

Malfunkshun formers, drummer Regan Hagar (Brad, Satchel)
and guitarist Kevin Wood (Devilhead),
jointed singer and pianist Shawn Smith (Brad, Satchel, The Diamond Hand)
to play some unreleased tracks written by Andrew Wood.
The new band, named From The North will be the highlight
of the upcoming Pearl Jam Tribute
which will be on April 24th at the Rainbow club, Milan, Italy.

Program:

- Pearl Jam music played by the best national cover bands,
with special guests as Marco Cocci, singer and actor
- Shawn Smith’s solo set (Satchel, Pigeonhead and Brad’s piano&vocals repertoire)
- From the North live show (Malfunkshun’s and Mother Love Bone’s tracks and inedits)
- “Seattle sound” dj-set all night long


In the club the fans will also have the chance to admire the graphic art of Malleus, an extraordinary Italian artistic project.
Their limited edition posters realized as manual serigraphies are considered by Paul Grushkin (author of “The Art Of Modern Rock”) the best contemporary expression of the European “poster art”.

As in the past editions, also during the 2007’s event, Ten Club and Epic-Sony Italy will offer official stuff and rarities to be extracted for the audience and a maxiscreen will project exclusive videos.

Shawn Smith (vocals, piano)
Discovered by Jonathan Poneman, owner of the legendary label “SUB POP” (Nirvana, Mudhoney, Soundgarden and others) and by his future drummer Regan Hagar. Shawn has been a point of reference of the American independent music for 15 years. After being the protagonist of projects as Satchel and Pigeonhead, SS still is the extraordinary voice of “Brad” (playing with Regan Hagar and Stone Gossard, the guitar of Pearl Jam) and now of “From The North”. Regan Hagar (drums)
He was the drummer of “Malfunkshun” since 1980. This band, togheter with “Green River”, was one of the first emerging band of the Seattle area. After being part of Satchel, now he is the drummer of “Brad”, with Shawn Smith, Mike Berg and Stone Gossard. The fifth album of the band will be released in 2007.

Kevin Wood (guitar)
With his brother Andy, prematurely disappeared in 1990, Kevin created “Malfunkshun”. He continued his career with “Devilhead”, then participating to several local initiatives, still promoting the “hard rock”side of the “Seattle sound”.
